You know what I’m talking about, right? The super sticky, super sweet white stuff that pairs absurdly well with peanut butter. A few bites will put you in a sugar coma, for sure.
Well that stuff was celebrated in Somerville Massachusetts on Saturday. Interestingly enough it was invented by Archibald Query in 1917 in that very town! And so every year for the past 14 years there has been a fluff festival to pay tribute to Mr. Query and all the greatness that is fluff.
The festival included a flea market, music, a cooking contest, fluffernutters, fluff pierogis, fluff donuts, fluff T-shirt’s, fluff everything. So many people crowded the streets to get their hands on some of the sticky stuff.
After doing a few laps Sierra and I cooled off inside the comedy club to watch the cooking contest and get our hands on a few samples. We had lunch earlier around the corner at the Himalayan Kitchen so we just wanted to nibble on something sweet. Everything we ate that day was delicious!
Everywhere there were fluff related items and fluff inspired food and drinks. Night Shift even had a pop up that was serving pumpkin beer with a fluff rim! It was the perfect opportunity to explore Bow Market in Union square since I’m not usually out in that area despite how great it is!
If you’ve never had fluff before I suggest starting with a true fluffernutter. I used to eat these, with Skippy peanut butter, before every soccer game. Talk about quick release carbohydrates to get my energy level up! It’s how fluff has typically been enjoyed, but it doesn’t stop there!
There was a survey asking people if they prefer peanut butter and fluff to peanut butter and jelly. Guess who came up with the two options?!? This girl! They were going to compare peanut butter and fluff to fluff and jam…literally not a fair survey since I’ve never heard of anyone eating fluff and jam. If you know me you know what I voted for…
